Hello and welcome!
My name is Kamini Kapoor. I am of Indian origin. I started cooking at an early age by watching my mother and grandmother. I love to cook for my friends and make them feel welcome in my home. Many of my friends have asked me to teach them how to cook. They especially want to learn how to use spices. I started this blog so that I could share my cooking techniques.
I learned how to cook Indian food from my mother and grandmother. I learned other ethnic cuisines from other grandmothers. One of those grandmothers taught me how to cook Italian. After travelling to Italy, I started to cook more and more Italian food.
I live with my husband on a ranch near the Austin area. Before that we lived on a hilltop in Southern California. We have been growing much of our own food for many years. Usually, I cook with whatever is available from the land. Recipes just pop into my head.
I am a periodontist by profession. I practice in Texas and in Michigan. I love what I do and I also love to cook. Cooking is my art form. My foremost goal is to have fun with flavors and really enjoy the food. It just so happens that my food is part of a healthy lifestyle.
Recently, I shared my art form to support the Empty Bowl Project for the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry. Now I have decided to work with them on a regular basis. I am opening up a cooking school/pop up supper club to raise funds for our local food bank. The goal is to support our community while having fun at the same time. I just want to have fun cooking with love and spices as I am sure my mother and grandmother would want me to.
